Every group of InterVarsity students notices what a special place the Dream Center is. Some students who came years ago still participate in the Friday night outreaches. Some students have become summer interns. Each student who has come, whether for a weekend or a week, has been impacted by the Dream Center, by the people, by the city, and most importantly, by God! Life Changing!!! That’s the Impact Dream Center has on me and on this wonderful City of Sacramento. Though small today it is a seed which when grown will provide sustaining love through men and women as well as children to those who need it the most right here in our own backyard. It is so easy to walk right by the hurting and needy. Though it feels right to go to church and place a check in the offering basket or respond to an inspirational message on TV, and feel as if you have done your part, there is something missing in the personal element of actually participating in the giving. Yet, attempting to help those in need in today's society is often a challenge to know you’re really helping! With Dream Center your giving is honestly changed because you become a part of the solution. Actually being a part of the volunteering with real names, and faces brings flesh and bones to the story. Dream Center and what it represents has been a prayer of mine here in Sacramento for over two decades. I was caught up in my day to day, when my youngest daughter shared with me she was participating at the Sacramento Dream Center. Seeing this Center arise and its impact was joy to my heart. We need this here to not only help the many who are in need, but we need it to bring our community light and people of faith an outlet to fulfill their call in life to love as Christ loved. Participating though difficult when the day begins, has always brought me closer to the real meaning of God's plan for my life, and humbled me with gentle reminders that except for the grace of God there go I. I encourage anyone wanting to be God's hands and feet to join this wonderful opportunity with great men and women who are making a difference right here in Sacramento. Gary, El Dorado Hills Jesus said ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’ "Humbling...took me out of my comfort zone....blessed ME.....Made me obedient to God's voice on where I should serve. All together awesome. Great job Dream team!!!!!!!" "The dream center has helped me to come closer to the lord at a time when I needed him the most and when I needed to connect with my inner self and I thank them for that god Bless you" "(Sacramento Dream Center) Is helping me to want to keep working to achieve my dreams" "I was riding my bike through the State Capital, and was told that I could attend a service... It made me feel good to talk to so many nice people." "This place is AMAZING and it has changed our lives forever...we were welcomed from day one with arms wide open by those who minister and all those who attend...what an inspiration to have that relationship with God we did not know was possible! If you get an opportunity please don't pass it up...their doors and arms are always open. Let them change your life too and bring you closer to God. God Bless...and thank you!" "I was taught all my life to be afraid of the homeless because they were either crazy, dangerous or manipulative. In my heart I knew this couldn't be true. By going out with H.E.L.P., I took a large step out of my comfort zone and stepped into something that changed my heart. My eyes were opened to a new world. Homeless are not scary people that should be ignored and pushed to the side; they are my brothers and sisters that are in need of my love and support. To be honest most of the people I have come across in H.E.L.P. are some of the sweetest and most caring people that I have even been blessed enough to know. Now I can bring the light of God into the lives of those who are in need of God's bright burning flame, that shall warm each and everyone of their lives. Creating every single one of us, we are sisters and brothers, 101% loved equally by his truly, the Lord our Savior. No matter how bad or good our pasts, present, futures, decisions, goals, looks, personalities, and sins are he loves every single one of us. No sin is worst that next ;no man is better that the next. Not a single sin or man is unworthy of his forgiveness and love. Without the Dream Center and H.E.L.P. ministry I probably would have never realized any of this. Thank you for everything you do and for the light you have awaken my eyes with Dream Team! God is so good!!!" |
